This year’s AGM was held on 3rd June at our Hanford Scout Hut, as a part of a Pie and Pie Supper and Quiz night. All parents, friends, supporters, Leaders and other officers of the group were invited. The Group’s Chairman and its officers presented the financial statements and reports for 2016. The Group Chairman, Secretary and treasurer were re-elected for another year. A volunteer came forward to fill the previously vacant role of Vice-Chairman.
A presentation was made to Malcolm Smith, who had to retire as our Chairman Part way though the year.
The below pdf file, contains the complete reports which were presented to the AGM, including the summary financial statements, trustee's reports and reports from each of the Group's sections and senior officers.
Joining the committee
At the AGM each year, the Group committee is elected to oversee the running the Group for the next 12 months. The Committee meets around 5 times a year, and we would like to encourage parents from each of our sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts) to join the committee and support us in making sure the group is well run.
What is an AGM?
All Charities must hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year, this is an opportunity for relevant people to review the accounts and financial statements of the organisation, ask questions and provide Feedback. We also present the Meeting with reports about what the Organisation has achieved during the year - in our case, this is a report from each of our sections, our Group Scout Leader and Chairman, and also includes a report on the activities carried out at our Rudyard Training Site - The biggest asset we have.
After the presentation of the reports, the Council (those entitled to attend the AGM) elect the members of the committee and other officers of the Group for the next 12 months; these are the people who will be entrusted to run the organisation sensibly and in accordance with its purpose and constitution.
